Overnight Accommodations

  • Dr. Jae Park " Mandibular Distalization vs. Maxillary Protraction in Class III Correction with TADs " (3 hour lecture)

Temporary anchorage devices (TADs) are currently being used to distalize or mesialize dentition. Since the development of the orthodontic miniscrew, there have been reports of mandibular distalization to correct Class III malocclusion. However, it is not always possible to distalize the mandibular dentition due to the anterior and posterior anatomical limits of the mandible. In cases where mandibular distalization is not an optimal treatment option, we might have to consider maxillary protraction. In this lecture, various Class III cases involving miniscrews will be presented, along with evidence-based literature.

    Course Objectives:

    • Discuss clinical applications and biomechanical considerations during mandibular distalization with TADs
    • Describe predictors for the successful treatment of Class III malocclusion
    • Discuss clinical applications of maxillary protraction with TADs
  • Dr. Mazyar Moshiri "State of The Art Corrections With Aligners Therapy"

Complex orthodontic malocclusions provide an opportunity for treatment planning creativity and demonstration of  the treating doctor's prowess. However, handling these malocclusions can also quickly humble an orthodontist. This may occur due to detrimental growth, stubborn biology, or improper treatment mechanics. So, after 30 years of use, where do clear aligners fall in this discussion? Join us as we review the strengths, and potential weaknesses, of clear aligners in addressing challenging malocclusions.

    Course Objectives:

    • Review the biomechanical and practical advantages of clear aligners for use in complex malocclusions
    • Review protocols for use of clear aligners in various complex malocclusions

    • Review finishing protocols for clear aligners

The Middle Atlantic Society of Orthodontists (MASO) is an ADA CERP recognized provider approved by the American Association of Orthodontists. ADA CERP is a service of the American Dental Association to assist dental professionals in identifying quality providers of continuing dental education. ADA CERP does not approve or endorse individual courses or instructors, nor does it imply acceptance of credit hours by boards of dentistry. MASO designates this activity for up to 6.0 hours of continuing education (CE) credits.

It is the responsibility of individual attendees to submit any necessary continuing education credit documentation to their individual states for verification. Concerns or complaints about a CE provider may be directed to the provider or to the Commission for Continuing Education Provider Recognition at ADA.org/CERP.

CE attendance forms will no longer be provided to each registrant after the Spring CE. It is the responsibility of the individual attendee to complete evaluations for each session they attend. Once the evaluations are completed, MASO will submit those names to the AAO. The certificate can then be downloaded from the AAO Website.  For assistance with the AAO CE Manager, please contact AAO at 800-424-2841 or info@aaortho.org.
