AAO ENDORSED PARTNER

AAO’s Two Endorsed Partners, OrthoPayment & Merchant Cost Consulting

As an AAO member, you have exclusive access to two AAO Endorsed Partnerships that can help with your practice’s credit card processing needs.

Electronic payment processing provider OrthoPayment specializes in integration with practice software, while cost-reduction firm Merchant Cost Consulting helps practices reduce credit card processing fees.

Although they operate within the same industry, each company’s business model meets different needs for AAO member practices. And as part of the AAO’s endorsement agreement, OrthoPayment and Merchant Cost Consulting will each refer members to the other organization if the member’s needs are better served by the other firm’s services. So, no matter who you contact, you’ll end up with the Endorsed Partner who fits your needs.

Merchant Cost Consulting

  • Industry: Certified Credit Card/Merchant Services
  • How Merchant Cost Consulting Can Help Your Practice: MCC is a cost reduction/consulting firm that helps AAO members to reduce their merchant service fees without having to change processors, equipment, or software. MCC is not a processor — but can help to make sure that your practice is not being overcharged when it comes to accepting debit/credit cards from patients. Through a simple audit of your current accounts, Merchant Cost Consulting finds hidden surcharges and negotiates lower rates to help lower your credit card processing fees. In addition, the company works with practices to monitor credit card processing rates on an ongoing basis.

If you've been unsuccessful in renegotiating rates with your credit card company or prefer not to change your point-of-sale systems at this time (or cannot do so due to contractual reasons), Merchant Cost Consulting will work to reduce your costs.

  • AAO Member Discount: If MCC finds no savings for you, you pay nothing. And you get to keep your fee evaluation and the comfort knowing that, at least in the present, your fees are as low as they can be. If they can find savings, you split the savings with them. The industry standard for this service is to split those fees — at best case 50/50. But as an AAO member, the split is 55/45 in your favor. The savings are calculated based on the actual realized savings each month.

Member savings will vary, dependent on your practice’s processing vendor and how much credit card volume is processed each month. MCC cites a 25 – 40% reduction in fees for many of its customers and often sees savings of $800 – $1,000 per month.
